All five accused arrested by the Fatorda police in the gang rape of a mentally challenged woman at Cansaulim last week have been further remanded to three days of police custody for further investigations. 

The five accused were produced before the Court of Judicial Magistrate First Class, Margao, on Friday after the expiry of their remand period. The court extended their remand for an additional three days.

The accused, all hailing from Vasco, were arrested by the Fatorda police for sexually assaulting the mentally challenged woman at a Cansaulim guest house after abducting her from the Margao KTC bus stand. 

The victim, a woman from Quepem, had reached the Margao KTC bus stand after wandering in the city. The main accused, Adil, befriended her before abducting her to Vasco, where they were joined by four more accused individuals.
