Car catches fire in Sakhali

Occupants of a car had a lucky escape when a car caught fire at Vithalapur-Sakhali on Wednesday.

According to reports, Dattaraj Chari and 4 family members were proceeding towards Sakhali, when smoke was noticed in the engine. The occupants quickly alighted from the car, then it was engulfed in flames a short while later.

Bicholim police and a fire brigade went to the spot and the fire was extinguished. The car has been destroyed in the fire.

MAPUSA: A ravaging fire reduced part of the popular Antares beach resort in Vagator to ashes on Wednesday evening. The fire, the cause of which is still to be ascertained, destroyed some rooms, a restaurant and the office, which were all made of wood and thatched roofing.
