VASCO
Sale of cars on online sites can be a risky venture, if due caution is not exercised.
In one such incident, a luxury car which was taken on a test drive in Vasco went missing and was traced as far away as in Assam.
According to sources in Vasco police, a prominent businessman from Baina registered a complaint stating that a couple approached his son who had posted an advertisement on a website for the sale of an Audi car.
According to the complainant, a couple claiming to be Saurav Mitra and Prathibha Mitra approached the businessman’s son on September 20 at around 3.30 pm and posed as buyers for the white-coloured Audi car which was advertised for sale on a website.
On the pretext of taking it for a test drive, the couple drove away with the car and did not return.
Another source said the missing car was apparently traced in Assam some days ago. The accused couple picked up gold ornaments worth lakhs from a jewellery showroom in Assam and on the pretext of arranging money, had left the missing car as security deposit and had fled from there.
Vasco police have registered an offence against the couple under Section 379 read with 34 IPC and is investigating the case.
