Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Shantaram Naik Ex-MP, in a statement issued on Saturday said that Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar should stick to his commitment to a separate All India Services Cadre for Goa.
Naik warned Parrikar against taking another U-turn and insisted that people's voice will be more powerful when an independent cadre is formed and that, no government will dare to ignore the voice of the people.
He said that he had argued before Central Government authorities from time to time that officers of All India Services posted in Goa are not serious about the jobs entrusted to them as, their postings are of short durations, and that, for the same reasons, they do not get themselves involved in projects and schemes
of state.
Naik said that when they do not co-operate with the CM of the day, all that CM can do is to plead with Home Ministry to take the officer back.
Stating that Goa is an independent State, Naik said it is entitled to have separate cadre, so that the State can effectively direct officers to do or not to do something.
