Carmona Village Panchayat at a special function distributed financial assistance to about 60 families from the village.
Sarpanch Allwyn Jorge said this unique initiative of the Panchayat was to provide some financial assistance to families suffering due to the lack of income & business due to Covid situation in the villages. “Today we wanted to assure the villagers that the Panchayat is with the villagers and will provide any help or assistance as and when required”, he said.
While two families were distributed financial assistance due to Deaths in their houses, one family was given aid due to losses suffered due to Cyclone Takutae.
The Sarpanch also gifted a brand new Samsung phone to a needy family for their child's online education donated by a donor. He appealed to the villagers to approach his office if any family needs any mobile for their children's education or also if there are any issues where the Panchayat will solve and help them.
The function which was attended by over 100 villagers due to Covid restrictions was also attended and addressed by the Parish Priest Fr Roland Carvalho as Guest of Honour who appreciated the efforts of the Panchayat to help the people in Covid situation.
