Gram sabha members of the Carmona village panchayat on Sunday have called for an Amendment to the Goa Panchayat Raj Act to accord legal sanctity to the resolutions adopted at the gram sabha meetings.
At the gram sabha meeting chaired by sarpanch Sandra Fernandes on Sunday, members pointed out that resolutions adopted at the gram sabha meetings are not implemented by the Panchayat and government authorities. They contended what is the use of participating in discussions on issues when the resolutions passed at the meetings are not implemented by the authorities.
After discussions, the gram sabha members adopted a resolution demanding amendment to the Goa Panchayat Raj Act.
