The coastal village of Cavelossim witnessed as many as three separate fire incidents on Sunday. Fire brigade rushed to Cavelosim on Sunday noon after receiving a call that fire broke out at the road side at Tibet Passos ward. The fire was brought under control within an hour, but not before destroying vegetation and cococut tree.
Sarpanch Dixon Vaz informed that two more fire incidents were reported in the village on Sunday evening, one in a field and the other one at an open area close to the residential area which was put off by locals.
He pointed out that a few days ago there was fire at Mobor at an open vegetation which was doused off by fire personnel and locals. Sarpanch Dixon further said that last month two more fire incidentS were reported on the beach side on a barren area.
Suspecting foul play, the Sarpanch said he would call on the Colva police station in-charge, PI Theron D’Costa and share with the police the information that locals have provided on the incidents. He said the locals are also maintaining vigil in order to nab miscreants.
