PANAJI:
Crime Branch arrested Adv. Amit Palekar for allegedly destroying evidence in the Banastarim accident case. The CB brought the AAP leader in for questioning today. Speaking to the media, Palekar said he has been falsely implicated by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party to tarnish his image.
"Got a call 2-3 days back pressurising me to join BJP. This is absolutely dirty politics, to tarnish my image," said Palekar.
Palekar will file a bail application before the Panaji Sessions Court.
The victims of the incident were Arup Karmakar, Suresh Fadte and Bhavana Fadte. Their lives were tragically cut short when a high-end vehicle collided with their two-wheelers near the Banastarim bridge on the evening of August 6, at around 7:30 p.m.
