The Corporation of the City of Panaji has vowed not to grant any approvals to builders under the new outline development plan, accusing the North Goa Planning and Development Authority of taking the local municipality body for granted.
Speaking to The Goan, Mayor Surendra Furtado also said that they require a further one month since the plans have to be kept open for one month for public suggestions and objections.
“Builders can take their own risks as the CCP will not approve construction,” Furtado said, adding that several other issues like that of roads, drains, footpaths, St Inez creek, garbage, parking, etc, would have to be resolved before they can approve new projects in the city.
“We have brought the plans before the CCP exactly two months after we received it, since the NGPDA had sought that it be kept open for two months. Now suddenly telling us that it is already gazetted. What is the hurry? It clearly shows that there are some ulterior motives,” he said.
When the issue of AMRUT projects was brought before the municipal body, the CCP reiterated its' stand that they will not clear the AMRUT proposals.
“We do not want to do a postman’s job. Unless, GSIDC sends us the detailed project report (DPR), along with the estimates of the proposals we will not clear the projects,” Furtado said.
The GSIDC has a total of eight projects lined up under the Central Government’s AMRUT scheme.

New carnival route approved
PAMAJI: The CCP which met on Thursday has given its nod to change the venue of the carnival from the existing route from Divja circle to Kala Academy to the route from Miramar and Dona Paula along the newly concretised road.
“We have approved it subject to the condition that GSIDC clears all the mess there and ensures that the venue will be cleared in time,” CCP Mayor Surendra Furtado told The Goan.
Earlier, the Tourism Minister had suggested that subject to the approval of the municipal body, the route could be changed to ease congestion in the city.
