CCP plans revenue model to maintain Smart City projects

PANAJI

Acting on a suggestion by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has initiated a process to prepare a revenue generating model to maintain infrastructure under the Smart City mission.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday inaugurated the ‘Beautification of Beachfront Promenade at Miramar’ project that has been carried out by Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSDL) under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) Mission.

"A four-phase project has been done by utilising Rs 12 crore, and at least 10 per cent of the fund is required to maintain the project. So, we are working on a model to create a revenue-generating model," said CCP Deputy Mayor Vasant Agashikar.

“We have stalls opposite the Science Centre which gives us some revenue. Besides these stalls, we have to work out some additional revenue generation sources,” said Agashikar.

An Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSDL) official informed that the process is afoot to officially hand over all developed projects to CCP, adding that this world-class infrastructure needs good maintenance.

“We have done our job now and it is up to the CCP to maintain it,” he said.

"A walkway to the sea, children’s play area, public open-air gymnasium, food court, water fountains of drinking water, iconic pergola and fish installation, toilets of international standards have been constructed,” said the IPSDL official.

He said that all eco-friendly materials have been used and development has been done without causing any harm to nature.
