AAP on Thursday claimed that there were certain priests in Salcete who were acting as “agents of the Congress.”
Addressing a press conference, AAP Goa convenor Elvis Gomes, said the Church had “3 or 4 priests who had acted as agents of the Congress.”
“I don’t want to categorise, but some of them feel they should do something for Congress. They keep religion to one side and talk about politics,” said Gomes, alleging that even on elections eve, at the time of religious service, some priests had “directly appealed to the people to vote for Congress.”
Gomes said that he appealed to the church hierarchy to take cognisance of this.
Meanwhile, the party slammed the government for postponing the National Games to such an extent that they had been fined Rs 10 crore stating that the fine ought to be paid from the pockets of the CM, Sports Minister and Sports Secretary. “They cannot tax the taxpayers with this burden,” said Gomes.
AAP also launched the party’s Panjim campaign with Valmiki Naik set to file his nomination today.
‘Panaji is administratively overcrowded’
PANAJI: AAP on Thursday said that Panaji was “administratively overcrowded” with many corporations formed to undertake development works in the city, and nobody knowing who was doing what. “The city has Atal Mission, Smart City Mission, GSIDC, PWD, IPSCDL , but who’s undertaking what project even CCP is unaware,” said AAP Goa convenor Elvis Gomes.
“Does Panaji really need this?” asked Gomes, saying that if elected, the party wanted to protect the heritage value of Panaji.
