Chaos at Mangor as students find school closed for repairs

Confusion prevailed at the Government School Mangor-Vasco, which is undergoing repairs, after students went to school after Diwali vacation only to find school shut down on Monday morning.

Parents and students were unaware that the Directorate of Education recently had a meeting with the ADEI and headmistress of Government School Mangor and it was decided to shift the students to other school premises till the unsafe Mangor government school building was repaired, after Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida had intervened in the matter.
According to sources, the students reached the government school premises as usual on Monday morning after Diwali vacations. However, they were unaware of the latest development and found that the school was undergoing repairs and classrooms shut.
Parents who had gone to the school to drop their children were also in for a shock when they realised that the school area was covered with construction material.
Some parents assumed that the school would begin next week till an alert parent got in touch with school officials, who later requested parents to inform all students to assemble in the school and some teachers arrived in the school premises.
The confusion was cleared and KTC buses arranged as per the MLAs instructions arrived at the site and transported students to the Vasco main school, informed sources.
