While parents and students claimed a discrepancy in internal marks on the Goa Board website and those which reflected on the actual mark list, the school management has denied the allegations, saying all students were given correct marks they had scored and there was no error in the mark list issued to them.
The incident took place when many parents and students of all streams gathered at the Shri Shantadurga Higher Secondary School at Bicholim to collect the mark lists, as Wednesday was the day to collect mark sheets of HSSC students who had appeared at the board exams.
When students of the science stream collected their mark sheets, they noticed discrepancies in their mark sheets, as the internal marks were different on the mark sheets as compared to marks on the Goa Board website.
Some students also complained that they had missed a higher grade as the internal marks given to them were very less as compared to marks shown on the Goa Board website. Confused over the discrepancy in marks, the concerned students and their parents contacted the teachers, but could not get satisfactory replies. According to sources, there were about 207 students in the science stream and all had the same problem.
Speaking to media persons, one parents said: “This is a major mistake by the management while entering internal marks on the mark sheets.”
When contacted, Vidhyavardhak Mandal Bicholim chairman, Vijay Sardesai told reporters said the internal marks on the mark lists were correct and added that parents should contact the institute in case they want
any clarification.
“We have given correct internal marks to the students and there is no error on part of the management,” said Sardesai.
He said the internal marks given to the students were shown to parents from time to time. “Initially, there was some mistake by the Board when the marks appeared on Goa Board website and we then asked the Board to give correct marks after rectifying the mistake
they committed.”
“The mark sheets were issued to students only after rectifying the earlier mistake and there is no error by the management,” Sardesai added.
