According to the taluka observatory sources, water from the dam began to overflow into the Chapoli rivulet at 2 am on Wednesday. The reservoir thus attained full storage capacity of 38.75 RL (Reduced Level). Chapoli dam, which has a maximum depth of 25.5 m normally overflows by August end or beginning of September. In its commissioning year, the dam overflowed on July 7, 2000). The second time it overflowed was on July 31, 2011.
Since 2001, the dam has overflowed only in September, sometimes as late as September-end. Last year, it became full on September 16 (95 inches of rainfall), in 2014 (August 7) and in 2013 on July 26. Many farmers who take up summer cultivation in the taluka are totally dependent on this dam. It also supplies water to residences and commercial establishments.
