The weekend Chaturthi celebration appears to have led to a spike in Covid cases, with 31 persons testing positive along the coastal belt of Candolim on Thursday.Candolim Primary Health Centre Health Officer Dr Roshan Nazareth informed that some people who had come for Chaturthi celebrations have tested positive.
“We know that at least in Nerul and Sangolda people who had visited the households for Chaturthi tested positive for Covid. They may have been asymptomatic earlier which exhibited symptoms after visiting the family for Chaturthi. We will be in a better position to analyse the data after three to four days,” Dr Nazareth informed.
Six persons of a family in Nerul and four in Sangolda tested positive while seven persons tested positive in Pilerne.Similarly, six persons tested positive in Arpora and four each in Candolim and Reis Magos.It may be recalled that 15 persons of a family in Nadora who had come for Chaturthi celebration had tested positive while six persons of a family in Revora had also tested positive on Wednesday.
In the meanwhile, 10 persons tested positive in Mapusa “ Xelpem (3), Ansabhat (2), Mapusa (2), Gaunsavaddo (1), Khorlim (1) and Dattawadi (1). Health Officer of Colvale Primary Health Centre, Dr Damodar Narvenkar informed that 15 persons were tested positive under his jurisdiction “ Nadora (7), Revora (2), Chicalim (5) and Camurlim (1).
Aldona Primary Health Centre has reported 11 positive cases which include eight from Nachinola, two in Chandandwadi-Bastora and one in Olaulim. “Apart from an isolated case in Olaulim, most of the cases are contacts of previous positive persons,” said Dr Pritam Naik, Health Officer of Aldona PHC
Siolim Primary Health Centre Health Officer Dr Sadhna Shetye informed that 14 persons tested positive for Covid on Thursday in the jurisdiction of Siolim PHC.
