MARGAO
There’s good news in store for the owners of liquor shops/bars and restaurants, besides pubs and food joints in South Goa.
Two days after an order from the district Magistrate ordered the shut down of all the liqour shops and bars by 10 pm between March 28 and April 20 in the view of the election campaign, the district Electoral Officer Ajit Roy has now modified his previous order and has extended the closure timings to 11 pm on par with the North Goa district.
In the latest order, Roy has prohibited liqour shops/bars & restaurants, pubs, food joints, shacks etc selling liqour in South Goa from selling or serving liquor after 11 pm for the period upto April 20.
The order has further prohibited these liquor outlets and establishments from selling of serving liquor for the period commencing from 6 pm onwards on April 21 up to 12 midnight on April 23.
The order has mandated owners of licensed premises having bars and restaurants to display a board in the premises stating that no liquor will be served on the said days and time and that only the restaurant is open for serving food.
The district electoral officer has directed all the flying squads, static surveillance teams and officials of the excise department, sector magistrates, police or any other authorized officers/officials in South Goa district to act immediately against establishments violating the order.
