Chimbel local and Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) leader Ajay Kholkar along with the tribal widow staged a protest against the sarpanch outside the panchayat on Saturday, after the widow’s house was issued demolition orders by the panchayat.

Kholkar staged the protest to highlight how the sarpanch is targeting the local tribals while supporting the migrants.

Speaking to reporters during the protest, Kholkar pointed out that the panchayat issued demolition order to the tribal widow’s house, the process for which was conducted within four months.

“This despite the same panchayat having given repair permission to the widow,” Kholkar added while condemning that the sarpanch is hesitant on acting against illegalities of migrants in Indira Nagar. “I have complained against the illegal constructions of migrants in Indira Nagar but such swift action is not forthcoming from the sarpanch,” Kholkar added.

Further, he also pointed out that his complaint against an illegal construction by a panch is also dragging on in the panchayat with the demolition process kept in abeyance.

“This shows that the sarpanch is protecting the illegalities of the migrants while acting against the legal activities of the locals,” he alleged.

Further, Kholkar also questioned why the sarpanch is not holding the adjourned gram sabha even after a month has passed. “The sarpanch needs to explain why action is not taken against the developer who had given wrong information pertaining to a project near the Hindu crematorium,” Kholkar added.

Kholkar also raised the issue of the panchayat promoting escorts services on its website as highlighted by him a few days back and questioned why the sarpanch has not given clarification on the issue till date.

Finally, Kholkar that the sarpanch should resign as he has failed on all fronts.
