The dry waste from Chimbel piling outside the Material Recovery Facility (MRF) at Indira Nagar caught fire on Tuesday afternoon.
Some locals noticed the fire and alerted the fire services and fire tenders rushed to the site to douse off the fire.
Incidentally, this is not the first time that waste at the MRF has caught fire and it has taken place on three earlier occasions.
When contacted, panchayat authorities informed that only the waste caught fire and there was no damage otherwise.
“As the Goa Waste Management Corporation has stopped accepting dry waste at its Saligao plant, the waste had piled outside the MRF,” the authorities informed.
