Chimbel work part of Smart City Project: L&T

OLD GOA: An official of L&T Constructions claimed that the area in Chimbel, where the work is undertaken, is part of the Panaji Smart City Project.   

“We had a meeting with the collector along with other officials and we have been given permission to undertake work in the area in question,” the official told The Goan.   

The official, however, hastened to add that if there is a need to seek permission from the local panchayat, it would be conveyed to the Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited officials to obtain the same.   

“According to the contract, the work has to be completed by May 15 and fresh permission has to be obtained for further extension if needed,” the official added.

The feast of the chapel, where digging work was being undertaken, is to be held on May 12. Incessant digging will cause inconvenience to devotees  

Water pipeline ruptured at many places, thereby affecting water  supply to nearby households   

Work undertaken without informing panchayat. No documents submitted before the panchayat either
