Laxmidas Chimulkar resigned as sarpanch of Anjuna-Caisua following an agreement among the ruling group of panchas, and Surendra Govekar is likely to take over as the next sarpanch. The ruling group of panchas had mutually agreed to rotate the post of sarpanch, and while Chimulkar would serve as sarpanch for the first three years, Govekar would be the sarpanch for the remaining two years. Chimulkar was elected unopposed as sarpanch in August 2022, and his three-year term ended in September. The Directorate of Panchayats will issue a notice for the selection of a new sarpanch.
