China-made Christmas decorations seized

Ahead of the Christmas season, officials of the Legal Metrology cracked a whip against Chinese made Christmas items illegally sold in the commercial capital. The value of the seized goods is placed at around Rs 3 lakh.
Senior legal metrology officials told The Goan that the Christmas decorative items were seized from two shops located at Malbhat.
The officials pointed out that the made in China Christmas decorative items were sans the manufacturer labels, packaging date labels, besides declarations as required under the Packaged Commodity rules.
The items includes Christmas trees, decorations, electric items, including lights and lamps, fixtures, bulbs, candle lights etc.

MARGAO The Cutbona Boat Owners Union on Wednesday resolved to impose a fine of Rs two lakhs on erring boat owners violating the government's ban on fishing with LED lights. Boat owners, however, demanded that the government should ensure an uniform ban on fishing with LED lights all along the western coast, with some of the members saying that the state government should not single them out when their counterparts in the neighbouring states use LED lights for fishing.
