In a display of honesty and professionalism, the CISF security not only found an unclaimed bag containing jewellery worth Rs 5.5 lakh at Dabolim Airport on Sunday night, but went to the extent of locating the passenger and handing over the bag containing the jewellery to her.
According to reports, the incident took place at about 8.30 pm when Constable Maqsood Ali of CISF, who was deployed at the Arrival Hall area of Goa Airport, noticed an unattended bag laying near arrival belt number-3.
He checked with nearby passengers, but no one came forward to claim the bag.
The CISF constable then intimated the Control Room in-charge who, in turn, directed to CISF BDDS team to rush to the spot.
Constable Ali also reported the matter to senior CISF officers and cordoned the area.
A CISF BDDS team reached at the spot and checked the bag as per SOP. After ascertaining that there was no dangerous/hazardous items inside the bag, the bag was opened and the jewellery items found inside the bag consisted of bangles (6), earrings (6 pairs), chain (2), necklaces (3) and rings (7), besides medicines and used clothes.
Some visiting cards were also found inside the bag. On getting contact details from a visiting card, a call was made to the passenger from Uttarakhand, who had arrived from New Delhi by an IndiGo airlines flight 6E-2041.
The passenger said she was in hurry and forgot her handbag containing jewellery items worth about Rs 5.5 lakh at the arrival hall of the airport.
The passenger returned to the airport and after proper verification, the bag containing jewellery items was handed over to her. On receiving her bag containing all jewellery items intact, the passenger thanked the CISF and appreciated their honesty in locating and handing over the bag containing the jewellery to her.
