Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias has said he has joined the BJP to usher in the development of his constituency, even as he repeated his complaint that the Goa Forward Party leaders comprising Vijai Sardesai and Joaquim Alemao were sabotaging development in Cuncolim.

Clafacio further said that he along with the 10-member group had taken a decision to move out of the Congress to join the BJP in order to keep the Goa Forward ministers, including Vijai Sardesai out of the government and to save Goa from destruction.

“Vijai Sardesai and Joaquim Alemao and son Yuri had been putting spokes in the wheels of development in Cuncolim over the last two years. They had virtually stopped all works in my constituency,” he said, adding that he had no option than to join the 10-member group to leave the Congress and join the BJP.

The absence of Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias at a meeting with government officials at the MLA’s office at Cuncolim had raised enough eyebrows amongst his supporters and officials alike over the emerging political developments on Wednesday.

The Cuncolim MLA had called for a meeting on Wednesday evening with the government officials to review the progress of development works in the constituency. While the officials had all come in strength at the MLA’s office, Clafacio was conspicuous by his absence, a situation that was enough to raise

many an eyebrow that something was cooking on the political front.
