Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar has allotted an office and has sanctioned funds to the newly formed Goa State Minorities Finance and Development Corporation (GSMFDC).
Parrikar allotted the corporation an office at Panaji and sanctioned an initial amount of Rs 10 lakh as funds for administrative purposes, after meeting the newly formed GSMFDC Chairman Orlando Menezes and directors along with TCP Minister Vijai Sardessai.
In a press statement, Menezes said the corporation was a long pending demand of the minorities.
“None of the governments took the initiative in the formation of the same, despite continuous demand from the minorities. The present government has met the demand of the minorities and appointed a committee of GSMFDC,”said Menezes.
“The purpose of this corporation is to uplift the minorities by providing them financial assistance through loan for education and entrepreneurship at a very low interest rate,” he added.
Since the GSMFDC needed a full-fledged office for efficient functioning, Menezes said that he along
with vice-chairman Ashma Sayed and directors Aslam Shaikh, Mushtaq Mohidin Javed and Mushtaq Mohidin went along with TCP Minister Vijai Sardessai to meet the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Friday to discuss about office space and funds for the corporation.
“Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar assured to help us in efficient working of the corporation by providing us with an office and funds to start functioning,” said Menezes.
“There are many schemes under this corporation such as education loan, entrepreneurship loan and housing loans, with very low interest rate and many other services which will help the minorities,” Menezes added.
