CM dared to resign & seek re-election

Vijai says Sawant will lose poll without CM tag

MARGAO

Taking offence to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant’s statement that the seven opposition MLAs will not win the 2027 Assembly election, Goa Forward Chief and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday dared Sawant to resign and contest the next Assembly polls without the Chief Minister’s tag, predicting that the Chief Minister will lose the election.

Notably, Sardesai also offered to resign and contest the election along with Sawant as “common Goemkars”.

“Without the title of Goa CM, no government machinery, no police threats, no money power, every child in Goa knows you’ll lose...,” Vijai tweeted.

Saying that the Chief Minister has won the 2022 Assembly election by fluke, Sardesai charged the Chief Minister of selling Mhadei to Karnataka  after returning to power.

“Former Governor Satyapal Mallik has given the Chief Minister the certificate. The State has become an illegal gambling den. After I raised the issue of online gambling in my Fatorda constituency in the House, the gambling immediately came to a half, but has now resumed with a bang,” he said, demanding to know who is collecting hafta from the organisers of gambling activities.

Meanwhile, the Goa Forward Chief has underscored the need to protect the Goa cashew by getting the GI tag.

He demanded that the government take steps to protect the local cashew industry from the imported cashew nuts.

Cashew nuts from abroad have flooded the state and has adversely affected the farmers. The government should intervene and protect the cashew industry”, he added.
