CM disburses extra Rs 30.8 crore
compensation to 600 land owners

With a total of Rs 150.8 crore disbursed to beneficiaries for their land acquired to set up the Mopa airport project, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar reiterated his confidence that the first flight would take off from the new airport by 2019.
Parsekar was addressing a gathering at Pernem on Monday after disbursing an extra Rs 30.8 cr compensation to 600 beneficiaries for acquiring their land to set up the Mopa Airport project.
Others present at the function organized by the Directorate of Civil Aviation included Secretary for Directorate of Civil Aviation Neela Mohanan, Director Suresh Shanbhogue, Deputy Collector (SDM) Pernem Harish Hadkonkar, ZP member Ramesh Sawal, PMC Chairperson Smita Kortadkar and sarpanchas of various panchayats in Pernem taluka.
“An amount of Rs 120 cr was distributed earlier and an additional amount of Rs 30.8 cr was disbursed today. The government has succeeded in honouring its promise of providing additional compensation to those whose land was acquired to set up the Mopa airport project,” said Parsekar.
Voicing happiness over the proposed International Green Field Mopa Airport project, the chief minister was confident that the first flight would take off from Mopa airport by 2019.
Stating that the Mopa airport would not only benefit people from Pernem taluka, but also the entire State and country at large, Panchayats Minister and local MLA Rajendra Arlekar said the project would benefit the future generations.
Others who spoke at the function included Mohanan, Antara Khedekar and Shanbogue.
