CM highlights development at Lokotsav in Canacona

CANACONA:

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant emphasised Goa as the only state providing comprehensive facilities across all talukas, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a "Viksit Bharat" by 2047. Speaking at the 24th Lokotsav, organised by Adarsh Yuva Sangh and others at Amone-Paigni, he highlighted efforts to promote self-sufficiency across sectors, from Pernem to Canacona, particularly among farmers. He commended initiatives like the Vishwakarma scheme for uplifting scheduled castes and tribes.

Sawant announced a sanctioned amount of ₹1,347 crore from the Central Road Construction Department to reduce travel time between Panaji and Canacona. Plans include constructing a new administrative building in Canacona, relocating current offices, and offering ₹60 lakh loans through the Manohar Parrikar Scholarship for higher education abroad.

Lokotsav founder Ramesh Tawadkar reflected on the Adarsh Yuvak Sangh’s journey since its inception on December 27, 1994, noting it started without government support. He expressed confidence that Canacona would emerge as a prosperous taluka in the next decade, thanks to initiatives like "Shramdham" and "Lokotsav".

The event honoured individuals excelling in various fields, including Dr. Amar Prabhudesai, Tulshidas Gawas, and others, who received shawls, "Shreephal", mementos, and certificates from the Chief Minister. Books about Adarsh Yuvak Sangh and Lokotsav, edited by Ajit Painginkar and Prabhakar Dhage, were released.

The program, coordinated by Sanjay Tawadkar and others, concluded with Ashok Gaonkar’s vote of thanks.
