Chief Minister Pramod Sawant inspected the areas flooded due to incessant rains in various parts of Bicholim Taluka on Friday morning and directed officials to provide immediate assistance to people in distress.
He said about 23 people in Harvalem had been rescued and brought to safety.
The health minister took stock of situation in different parts of Sattari and said necessary directions had been issued to collectors to have the disaster management team stationed at Sattari and Usgao.
The health minister stated that due to continuous and heavy rainfall, Mhadei has been overflowing and water had entered different parts of Valpoi. He said water had entered houses causing a lot of damage and said is very important to ensure people’s safety.
“With the intervention of the Disaster Management Team, they will be shifted to safer locations. Necessary directions were issues to the collectors to have the Disaster Management team stationed at Sattari and Usgao. I have requested officials from the department of WRD, Fire Department, PWD, Deputy Collector & Mamlatdar to monitor the situation closely,” he said.
He visited different areas of Kudshe, Nanus, areas disconnected from the main areas and Keri to assess the ground situation in view of the damage caused due to heavy rainfall. He also visited Savarshe later during the day to take stock of the situation there.
Following his inspection, he had a detailed discussion with the chief minister and said necessary directions have been issued to repair the disconnected areas of the bridges of Paikul, Pelavade, Ghoteli and other areas where the bridges have collapsed.
