Chief Minister Pramod Sawant earlier last week inaugurated a new facility of Marksans Pharma Ltd at the Verna Industrial Estate where the listed pharma company already operates a plant for fuel exports for the United States markets.
Promoted by Mark Saldanha, whose family are also promoters of another pharma major -- Glenmark Pharma Ltd -- which also has substantial operations in Goa, Marksans Pharma shares have seen heightened activity on the stock exchanges recently after it received final approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (USFDA) for its Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) for Loratadine Tablets.
Sawant inaugurated the facility at Verna along with Industries Minister Mauvin Godinho, Cortalim MLA Antonio Vas and Marksans Pharma Executive Director Varddhaman Jain.
Sawant said Goa has been making significant contributions to the Pharma sector by accounting for 30% of production and exports and also generating substantial employment opportunities in the State.
