The Sotreo (Umbrella) festival brought Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to Cuncolim, as he descended in the historic village on Tuesday noon to partake in the festivities at his sister’s place, a day after he was invited by Governor P S Pillai to form the new government.
The Chief Minister turned emotional as he was welcomed and hugged by his sister Veena at her house at Culvaddo. Married to Cuncolim Municipal Councilor Videsh Desai, Veena welcomed the Chief Minister with the traditional religious ceremony.
After lunch, the Chief Minister descended at Tolleabhat, where the procession of Shree Shantadurga Kunkalikarin culminates into a major celebration. Sawant interacted with the people and was seen with BJP Sanguem MLA Subhash Faldesai.
Incidentally, the Sotreo festival brought MLA Subhash Faldesai and his relative, Congress Cumbarjua MLA Rajesh Faldesai together as they posed for a photograph during the festivities.
