CM petitions MEA for safe return of Goans in Ukraine

PANAJI

The crisis in Ukraine following Russia's military operation there has prompted Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to seek the intervention of the Union Minister for External Affairs, Dr S Jaiashankar, to help in the safe return of Goans stranded there.

“We are concerned about Goans in Ukraine who are considering returning to India in light of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine crisis. I request Union Minister for External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar to help in the safe return of Goans. I am keeping track of the situation,” Sawant said.

Meanwhile, after Thursday morning's military action by Russia, the Ukrainian airspace has been closed abruptly halting the operation of all evacuation flights planned by the Indian government.

"Embassy will convey information as soon as such arrangements are finalized," the advisory said, urging Indians, especially students to carry their passports at all times.
