MARGAO
When Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had descended in Nuvem constituency on October 2 last year to inaugurate the old age home at Majorda, he was categorical in saying that neither Cong-turned-BJP MLA Alexio Sequeira nor the people will regret the decision of the political heavyweight to embrace the BJP.
A year later, the Chief Minister returned back to Majorda on Wednesday to launch underground cabling works in the coastal villages of Majorda and Betalbatim amounting to a whopping Rs 67 crore.
Like last time round, the Chief Minister made no mention whether Alexio will find a berth in his Cabinet, but Sawant has promised all round development of Nuvem constituency in the next three years.
“Alexio Sequeira has supported me and my government and it is my duty to ensure that all the development works in Nuvem constituency is taken care of by my government”, Sawant said in his address.
The Chief Minister said the government can think of building a new Panchayat ghar for the Village Panchayat of Majorda at a cost of Rs three crore if a proposal comes from the panchayat body.
Saying that his government does not discriminate against any of the constituencies, the Chief Minister said all the 40 constituencies have been receiving equal treatment from his government.
The Chief Minister took the platform to woo Nuvemkars to support the double engine government to complete the unfinished developmental works. “The double engine government at the centre and in Goa has helped to tone up infrastructure across the state”, the Chief Minister said, while urging Nuvemkars to support the BJP to complete the development works.
The Cong-turned-BJP MLA Alexio profusely thanked the Chief Minister, Power Minister Dhavlikar, Chief Electrical engineer and the power department staff for the underground cabling project in the two villages.
That’s not all. He said the Chief Minister has promised to sanction 1000 litre of water tank to each of the households in Betalbatim village as well as households in the rest of the constituency.
