With elections expected to be held shortly and the Code of Conduct to be declared any time soon, politicians are eager to initiate, execute and inaugurate projects at a hectic pace.

Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar himself will inaugurate as many as seven new projects in his Mandrem constituency, besides laying the foundation stone for other projects.

The government will build toilet blocks and changing rooms at Harmal, Keri-Tericol, Mandrem, Ashwem, and Morjim beaches at a cost of Rs 6 crore.

A wooden bridge at Junaswada proceeding to Mandrem will be replaced by a concrete bridge and the foundation stone will be laid on Sunday at 3.30 pm.

A function to launch hot-mixing of coastal roads from Morjim will start at Sunday at 4.30 PM, while the school building of Tuem Government primary school, which has been built at a cost of Rs 2.20 crore, will be inaugurated at 5.30 pm. The beautification work of the Chopdem junction will also be inaugurated at 6.30 pm.

Foundatio stone

for new bridge

The foundation stone for the new bridge at Mharachikond-Junaswada will be laid by Chief Minister Laximikant Parsekar on Sunday at 4 pm.

The existing Portuguese-era bridge will be demolished and a new bridge will be built at a cost of Rs 2 crore.

“This bridge had become weak and had posed a danger, so the government decided to reconstruct it,” said Parsekar.
