CM will work out ways to get firm to pay WISL workers: Milind

VASCO
Mormugao MLA Milind Naik on Saturday said Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar would intervene in working out ways to get the Western India Shipyard Limited (WISL) to pay its workers. Naik organised a meeting of WISL employees with Parrikar at Ravindra Bhavan, after the function to inaugurate the STP at Vasco.
Later speaking to the media, Naik said the WISL company had gone into losses and the issue of employees was not resolved since the last two years.
"I am trying to resolve their issues. I have been told by the chief minister that he will write a letter or call the WISL management for talks and would try and hold separate meetings with workers and management to work out ways to make WISL pay its employees from the proposed sale of their dry dock," said Naik.
"Everyone, including WISL employees, must understand that is a complex situation as the company is bankrupt, but the chief minister and we are making all efforts to resolve the grievances of the WISL workers," Naik added.
