The Cuncolim Municipal Council on Thursday adopted a host of resolutions to take up development work in the town, including a Health Centre, a spacious auditorium and a futsal ground.
At the Council meeting chaired by Chairperson Laximan Naik, the Council further adopted a resolution for the beautification of the Chieftain’s memorial by the Tourism Department.
The issue of the health centre came up for discussions when the ruling Council proposed the centre at the CMC acquired land opposite the Cuncolim KTC bus stand. The Health Department is believed to have insisted on land admeasuring 3,000 square metres to house the proposed health centre.
The resolution adopted by the Cuncolim Council assumes significance and comes against the backdrop of the announcement made by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in his budget speech that a health centre will be set up at Cuncolim in the current financial year. The Chief Minister has sanctioned the health centre after a request was put by the local MLA and Opposition Leader Yuri Alemao.
Meanwhile, the Council has decided to set up an auditorium at the CMC acquired land at Sidhinagar.
