Newly-posted Margao Municipal Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes on Friday took stock of the situation in the Margao municipal library, saying all steps will be taken to restore the library’s past glory.
The Chief Officer interacted with the library staff and sought to know the steps needed to restore the MMC library’s lost glory. “I just thought of visiting the library to review the situation and to tone up the system, if necessary,” Agnelo told the media after interacting with the library staff.
He praised the MMC library employees saying that it was well maintained by the staff. He, however, pointed out there’s always room for improvement, while calling upon the staff to try and meet the requirements of the readers and students. “It appears that the MMC library has a large collection of books. My visit was to review and suggest improvements,” he said.
Incidentally, Agnelo’s predecessor Ajit Panchwadkar had taken the initiative to launch a wi-fi facility in the library and had also made available model questions papers for the benefit of students preparing for the Std X and XII examinations.
