Coastal plan: time extended


PANAJI 
The Ministry of Environment and Forests has, in a notification, extended the time for coastal states, including Goa, to draw up a fresh Coastal Zone Management Plan under the CRZ notification. The notification, issued on April 01, extends to January 31, 2017.
The CZM plans as already approved by the erstwhile MoEF under the CRZ notification, 1991, shall be valid up to the January 31, 2017, or till such time as the approval is given by this Ministry to the fresh Coastal Zone Management Plans made under the notification, whichever is earlier. States were expected to prepare the plans within two years of January 6, 2011, the date the fresh CRZ notification 2011 came into force.

Acquitted in minor’s rape

Goa Children’s Court on Tuesday acquitted one Kasim Shaikh, native of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and currently residing at Old Goa, in a 2014 case of outraging modesty of a five-year-old girl and ordered his release from judicial custody.
