Director General of Police Mukesh Kumar Meena has said coastal police security will be strengthened in the State and new police patrol boats would be commissioned shortly.
DGP Meena was speaking to reporters after inaugurating a gym facility at the Vasco police station.
The gym equipment has been sponsored by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) under its CSR project. GSL CMD B B Nagpal, IGP Rajesh Kumar and DIG (Crime) Paramaditya were also present on the occasion, along with other senior police personnel.
"The State government led by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has given us a lot of support and all our proposals are being taken up positively. Our boats are under construction at GSL and soon new boats will be allotted to the Coastal Police as well, once the proposals are approved.”
“Our old boats are being examined as of now and if they are worthy, we will use them. We will strengthen our coastal police unit to enhance security, which is a specialised unit for security,” said DGP Meena.
Commenting on the gym facility at the Vasco police station, he said gyms should be available at or near police stations, so that police personnel stay fit by exercising in the short time available to them.
