PANAJI: In view of the severe backlash the North Goa Collectorate received for the manner in which they have conducted the interview process, the Office of the Collector and District Magistrate of North Goa has clarified that the list of candidates who were unable to register their names on January 29 due to the long queues of persons seeking a chance at a job will be given another chance through an extension of date.
According to a revised order issued by North Goa collector Nila Mohanan, the dates for registration have been extended and eligible candidates may now come for registering their names and receiving the printed tokens for appearing in the interview on February 2 and 3 from 10am to 5pm at the Ground Floor of the Old GMC Complex and that tokens will be issued to all eligible candidates.
The notice issued late evening on Tuesday came even after the North Goa Collector issued a fresh advertisement in daily newspaper calling for a “walk in interview” for data entry operator on first come first served basis because out of the total 125 candidates only 51 candidates have registered their names and that registration for the balance names will be held on January 31 from 8am onwards.”
However fearing a repeat of the events on January 29, on Tuesday late evening Mohanan informed that “the dates for registration have been extended and eligible candidates may now come for registering their names and receiving the printed tokens for appearing in the interview on February 2nd and third from 10am to 5pm at the Ground Floor of the Old GMC Complex and that tokens will be issued to all eligible candidates.”
The notice was issued in view of the “overwhelming response to the walk in interviews for the posts of Lower Division Clerks and Data Entry Operators advertised on January 17.
On Monday an estimated 3,000 persons queued up for the posts since it was advertised on “first come first serve” basis with the queue extending all around the extensive Administrative Complex right in the heart of the city.
The Collector has also informed that all eligible persons will be called for interviews and the timings of the interviews will intimated through newspaper advertisements and not individual intimation.
On Monday an estimate 3,000 persons turned up for around 63 posts of Lower Division Clerk and Data Entry Operators leading to an intervention by Calangute MLA Michael Lobo who said that the system should be changed.
