Questioning the rationale behind installing sensor toilets at the Cutbona fishing jetty, Chief Minister instructions to the district Collector to immediately replace the censor toilets with bio-toilets at the jetty under funds from disaster management.
That’s not all. In an attempt to tone up sanitation and hygiene at the fishing jetty, the Chief Minister issued directions to provide the toilet facility free of cost to the migrants, and to recover the upkeep and maintenance cost from the boat owners.
“Who has installed these sensor toilets at the fishing jetty. Change the toilets immediately under disaster management. Make the boat owners pay for the maintenance of the toilets. All the workers should use the toilets instead of using the adjoining fields”, he said, wondering why the migrant labourers should pay for the sanitation facility.
When the Chief Minister was told the Goa Tourism Development Corporation has installed the sensor toilets at the jetty, Sawant wondered whether they thought that the place where the toilets are installed is a five-star hotel.
Before leaving the site, the Chief Minister ordered removal of the structures along the jetty road, by getting the rooms vacated after removing the items.
