Members demanded to know whether the CRZ has granted any permission for the erection of the mobile tower, demanding that the panchayat body immediately raze down the structure. After much discussion, it was finally resolved the panchayat should initiate measures to dismantle the tower after the sarpanch maintained that no NOC from the panchayat body was obtained before the installation. The panchayat body was also told to write to the electricity department to disconnect power supply to the tower.
The burning issue of garbage dominated at the gram sabha with members questioning the panchayat body over the mess on the world famous Colva beach as well as non collection of plastic waste from the road side.
The sarpanch replied saying that the panchayat has engaged a private contractor for the collection of dry waste from the households. He said though the panchayat body has earlier shortlisted some sites, they have found no favour with the Goa State Pollution Control Board.
As far as the waste on the beach is concerned, the sarpanch stated that a contractor will start waste collection from the beach after the renewal of the contract. The sarpanch informed that the panchayat has invited Tourism Minister Babu Azgaonkar to visit the Colva beach to see the ground reality.
The construction of the Panchayat ghar also figured at the gram sabha. The sarpanch informed that the panchayat has sought NOC from the Church to build a ground-plus-two-storeyed panchayat ghar at the existing site.
