Come Nov, all services of p’yats to go online

PANAJI
All the services of the panchayats will go online from the first week of November.

Director of Panchayat Siddhi Halarnkar said that services across all 191 panchayats will go online and that people will not have to make multiple visits to the concerned panchayats.

She said that currently all services or permissions are provided in manual method. She explained that people have to submit applications in hard copy and since panchayats remain close on Saturday and Sundays, people, especially those working people, face hardship.

“Lot of applications get piled up and this also affects the revenue generation of the concerned panchayats. Online facility will ensure time bound services,” she said.

Halarnkar said that in the initial phase services such as house tax payment, birth & death certificates, trade and other licence renewal, NOC for electricity and water will go online. While services such as issuing of construction licence, occupancy certificate etc will be offered subsequently.

Halarnkar opined that going online will help the panchayats increase its revenue as people will be able to avail services and make payments online.

The services will be made available on the Directorate of Panchayat website https://panchayatsgoa.gov.in/
