Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has stated on Tuesday that the Government of Karnataka is committed to constructing a 'Kannada Bhavan' in Goa.
CM Bommai gave an assurance in this regard to the office bearers of All Goa Kannada Maha Sangha. The Goa delegation of Kannadigas under the leadership of All Goa Kannada Maha Sangha honorary president Siddanna Meti, met him at his home office ‘Krishna' in Bengaluru. BJP national general secretary and Goa in-charge, MLA C T Ravi accompanied the delegation.
"Government of Karnataka is committed to building a Kannada Bhavan in Goa as a large number of people from north Karnataka have settled in Goa. This will help in the promotion of the Kannada language and safeguarding the interests of Kannadigas in Goa," Chief Minister Bommai ascertained.
He also directed officials to prepare a detailed project report for the construction of the Kannada Bhavan.
Siddanna Meti and other office-bearers apprised the Chief Minister of the various issues and problems faced by Kannada-speaking people settled in Goa. Hanumanthareddy Shirur and others were also present at the meeting.
