The State government has decided to constitute two committees to look into the applications seeking regularization of illegal structures in Bardez taluka.
"The government has decided to appoint a retired officer of the level of the deputy collector to head the committees, which will also have officials from other departments. The committee will inspect all such illegal houses in detail and submit a report," said a senior official from the revenue department.
A total of 458 applications for regularization of illegal structures have been received in Bardez taluka soon after the government passed the
bill to regularize houses in August 2016.
Any person who has carried out an unauthorised construction in the property before February 28, 2014, was allowed to apply to the official concerned.
Any residential, commercial or residential-cum-commercial unauthorised construction in applicant's own property or co-owned, with written consent of all other co-owners, could apply.
Bardez taluka had received 458 such applications soon after the legislation was passed by the then BJP government.
As per the act, only those structures that are on private land will be regularized while those on government or Comunidade land were not entitled for the benefit.
"Any applications which show illegal structures either on government or comunidade land will be rejected straightaway during scrutiny," said Mamlatdar, Dashrat Gawas.
Revenue Minister, Rohan Khaunte had recently said the process for regularization of illegal structures will start from October.
He said all the applications seeking regularization of the structures constructed before 2014 will be considered.
