A massive turnout marked the Goa Forward Party’s meeting in Corlim, reflecting growing public discontent. The event, attended by party president and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai, Cumbharjua Zilla Parishad candidate Vikram Parab, and several local leaders, became a platform for sharp criticism of the State government.
Sardesai accused the administration of systematically betraying Goans’ trust. He cited the unfulfilled promise of three free gas cylinders for women as a clear example of failed commitments. He further claimed that corruption has seeped through all levels of government, from job scams to malpractice across departments, which he said is depriving Goans of their future and dignity.
The meeting also spotlighted concerns about weakened grassroots democracy. Sardesai said the original spirit of the Panchayati Raj reforms had been eroded, accusing the government of deliberately undermining local self-governance. He questioned the accountability and functioning of the Zilla Panchayat system under the current administration.
Speakers highlighted rising utility bills, unemployment, inflation, and the deteriorating condition of government schemes. Issues such as irregular job recruitment, poor support for cultural sectors like film, and inadequate planning were also raised. Reiterating his principle of “development by consent,” Sardesai stressed that public opinion must guide every project, citing examples from Fatorda.
ZP candidate Vikram Parab outlined his priorities for infrastructure, market regulation, planning, and welfare, assuring voters of responsive governance.
The meeting ended with a call for stronger public participation and collective responsibility to tackle constituency issues and reclaim Goa’s future.
