A 47-year-old train commuter is cooling his heels in the Konkan Railway police lockup after he masturbated near the face of a lady complainant while she was sleeping on her seat.
The incident occurred on January 2 on the Purna Express to Goa train when the complainant lady (from Kozhikode, Kerala), along with her two male friends, was travelling.
When the train reached Gokarna Railway Station, Karnataka, the accused person, Dattatray Chavan, a resident of Kannur in Kerala and native of Sangli in Maharashtra, removed his private part and started masturbating near the complainant’s face while she was sleeping on her seat.
After the male friend of the complainant called the emergency railway number, Konkan Railway Police, Margao Police Inspector Sunil Y. Gudlar and his team, ASI Gomes, HC Minguel Vaz, PC-Kuldeep Gaonkar, LPC Neeta Kavlekar, swung into action and arrested accused Dattatray Chavan.
A Zero FIR under Section 354A IPC has been registered by the Konkan Railway police.
