Speaking to media persons, Headland Sada Councillor Nilesh Navelkar said one resident from Headland Sada received a letter in Hindi from Faridabad, stating that she had been appointed as a forest guard in Goa. “The letter mentioned that she would be called for a training programme before being posted as the forest guard and asked her to pay Rs 15,000 in advance,” said Navelkar.
“The resident informed me that she had never applied for any such post, either in Goa or elsewhere, and was surprised to have received the letter.”
“I informed her and others not to fall prey to such appointment letters as they could be a scam to hoodwink innocent people under the pretext of offering them jobs,” said Navelkar.
Navelkar said he later filed a police complaint at the Vasco police station and submitted the letter to police officials.
“They informed me that it was a fake letter as the letterhead carried the symbol of the central government, while the job is in Goa,” said Navelkar.
“I appeal to others receiving such letters not to send any money without verifying the authenticity of the letter,” he added.
