South Goa Comunidade Forum components see red as the Administrator of Communidades South Zone has issued a memorandum to the Escrivaos of Comunidades seeking among other things details of vacant plots of Comunidades till date.
Protesting bitterly over the memorandum issued by South Zone Administrator of Comunidades Deepesh N Priolkar, the South Goa Comunidade Forum has demanded the immediate withdrawal of the memorandum, seeking clarification on the basis on and the purpose for which the information has been sought by the Administrator.
"The Communidades are autonomous bodies under the tutelage of the government only for administrative purposes. Hence, we submit that the memorandum issued by the Administrator is uncalled for," asserted Forum president Franky Monteiro.
Addressing the media, Franky raised strongly objection to the memorandum and submitted that the Communidades cannot be compelled to part with the private information in such a dubious and fishy manner.
"We have noted with shock and anguish the contents of the memorandum issued by the Administrator of Communidades to all communidades inter alia seeking details of their financial and vacant land assets. The memorandum does not state at whose instance or on whose directions the information is sought to be obtained. The nature of the details and the manner in which it is sought to be collected raises suspicions that the Administrator is acting as a willing handmaid of his higher-ups and superiors, who have set their sights on usurping Communidade assets," Monteiro said.
He lamented that there's no explanation given as to why details of vacant lands of each Comunidade have been sought, suspecting that it is the groundwork to acquire them under the proposed land requisition and acquisition law mooted by the government.
"There's no justification for seeking details of our accounts and fixed deposits. The information is sought from the escrivao who is only an employee. We wonder whether the move is to take the financial position of the South Comunidades to the higher authorities to justify saddling Comunidades with the exponentially mounting salary burden of the illegally appointed employees."
