BJP Goa President Damu Naik on Monday accused Congress leaders of misleading Goans over the Mhadei river dispute, questioning their silence during Goa visit to participate in Goy Rakhon Yatra (Save Goa campaign).
Naik said Leader of Opposition (Lok Sabha) Rahul Gandhi and Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, who visited Goa to participate in the yatra, should have addressed the dispute.
“They should have also spoken on Mhadei, but they are all silent,” Naik said, alleging that the issue was deliberately ignored. Naik claimed Goans understood the dispute and would not be misled by what he described as Congress's attempt to mislead them.
Asked whether the yatra would have any impact on the BJP, Naik replied, “Absolutely not.”
