BJP Goa president Damu Naik on Monday said Goans must stop blaming the government for selling land to outsiders and instead identify those selling private properties, as he challenged critics to produce evidence that the government was facilitating such deals.
Turning the debate over land ownership towards the sellers, Naik urged Goans to retain their properties and use them for agriculture, businesses and commercial activities instead of selling them.
“Show me where the government is selling land to outsiders,” Naik said, challenging those accusing the government of facilitating land sales to substantiate their claims.
Speaking to reporters, he added that the government was providing assistance to help people sustain their livelihoods in Goa rather than leave the State.
The BJP president also questioned why Goans were choosing to sell their properties instead of using them to generate income. “Can I go to another state and buy land? But people come here and purchase land. Who is selling it to them? Find out who owns the large tracts of land and who is selling them to outsiders,” he said.
